Black Friday Computer Deals

Happy Thanksgiving from Enfuse Technology !

As we are nearing Black Friday, many friends, family members, clients, and strangers want to know the best computer deals for Christmas.  The staff has done some research, read the reviews, checked the ads, and put together a list of what we think the best deals are for this weekend.

A few caveats before we get into the list.

  1. These are only our opinions. Other people may not agree with these deals and that is fine. It is possible, maybe even likely, that we missed a few really good deals.
  2. Our reviews and comments are based on the advertising by the retailer.
  3. We focused on computers in the home, office, and every day use categories. If you are doing intensive programming, photo editing, gaming or other process intensive computing - these are not the computers you are looking for.
  4. We make mistakes.  The staff has not physically touched each computer on this list. We are relying on the information provided by others.
  5. We do not think the sub $300 and sub $200 computers found at some of the big box stores are worth reviewing.

2012 Black Friday Computer Deals

HP Pavilion 14 Sleekbook for $399 at Sam's

HP Pavilion 14 Sleekbook laptop

This is one of HP’s newly redesigned laptops that have a sleeker build and smaller profile. It is primarily made of plastic but the internal components set this laptop apart. This is one of the better laptop deals so far this holiday season. If you are a fan of HP or need a smallish laptop with above average features at a budget price then this may be the ticket for you. It can be found at Sam’s Club as part of their Black Friday specials.

  • Windows 8
  • 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3317U
  • Intel® HD graphics 4000
  • 14.0" diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit display

Dell Inspiron 14z for $299.99 at

Dell Inspiron14z

Dell is offering their Inspiron 14z laptop with advertised savings of $300. While this is an excellent deal do not expect it to be a computing powerhouse. It utilizes Intel’s second generation Core i3 processor and 4GB of Ram which is sufficient for most home users. I will be purchasing a couple of these for friends and family. If you are looking for a laptop to surf the web and check your email then this is the deal for you. You can shop online at beginning November 23rd at Midnight.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 2nd Generation Intel Core i3 processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 500GB HDD

Acer V5 Touchscreen for $529.99 at Best Buy

Acer Aspire 15.6 V5 Touchscreen Laptop

While this laptop uses the low range of the Intel core processors the Core i3 should provide enough power for this entry level touch screen. If your heart is set on a Windows touch screen laptop this holiday season but need to stay in the under $700 range, this is the answer. One thing to note is that it is fully plastic and has a relatively weak battery.

  • Windows 8
  • 2nd Generation Intel Core i3 processor
  • 500GB HDD
  • 15.6" LED-backlit high-definition wide touch display

Lenovo Twist 12.5" for $700 at Staples

Lenovo Thinkpad Twist 12.5" Touch Screen Laptop

Lenovo’s entry into the touchscreen and Windows 8 market is pretty impressive. This ultrabook convertible has 4 media modes and good mid-range specs. For someone looking for a touchscreen that can do a little more, the Twist might be it. Usually priced around $850, this will be a deal for $700 at Staples on Black Friday.

  • Windows 8
  • 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5
  • 4GB RAM
  • 500GB HDD
  • 12.5" HD IPS Display with Touch Sensor

Lenovo K410 for $449.99 at

Lenovo K410 Desktop PC

A desktop is included on this list of laptops because it is a great deal. A quality midrange processor, lots of RAM, and huge hard drive really set this one apart. It also has upgraded graphics and a portable hard drive dock. It is a quality home and business PC that comes with mouse and keyboard but no monitor. You can buy this one right now at

  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Intel Core i5 processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 2 TB HDD

We hope this list has helped for your shopping adventures this weekend.

Computer Shopping Tips

  • Be careful of advice given by the computer “experts” at some of the stores. Many times they are not well informed and have no actual training with computers.
  • Also, many stores will try to push their extended warranty on you.We generally advise against this purchase.
  • If you can, buy your cables and accessories online. Most large chain stores mark these up 200%-300% over what you can find online. Name brands generally don’t matter.
  • Also, have a local, reputable computer company remove the extra software and check out your antivirus options (Enfuse Technology will do this for a $99 flat rate).
  • Do not pay for antivirus in the store. There is some really great free software available.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give us a call or drop us an email. Have a great Thanksgiving!
